Privacy Policy

Information We Collect

Creating a Scensei account and using the app involves storing:

• Account information — an email address and password, or, if you use Sign in with Apple, the identifier and (optionally, private relay) email Apple provides.
• Profile details— your name, an optional public username and display name, home location (used to set a default climate, not precise GPS coordinates), preferred climate/style, and an “overspray” preference.
• Fragrance collection data — the fragrances you add to your collection, favorites, and any personal adjustments you make to a fragrance’s attributes.
• Wear history — dates you logged a fragrance, the moods/occasions you selected, ratings, whether you were complimented, and any notes you write.
• Reviews and votes— fragrance reviews and ratings you post, and upvotes/downvotes on other people’s reviews. Reviews are public and visible to anyone using the app.
• Social/friend data — friend requests and connections, and any recommendations you send to or receive from friends.
• Location, momentarily— if you grant location access, Scensei reads your device’s current coordinates once to fetch local weather (via the Open-Meteo API) for climate-aware recommendations. Those coordinates are used in the moment and are not stored on our servers — you can also skip this and set a home location manually instead.

How We Use Information

This information is used to generate and personalize fragrance recommendations, sync your collection and history across devices, power the layering engine, and support social features like friends and shared reviews. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it.

What’s Visible to Other Users

Your username, display name, and any reviews you post are public. If you add someone as a friend, they can see your fragrance collection. Your wear history, notes, and account email are never shown to other users.

Third-Party Services

We use Supabase to host our database and handle authentication, Apple for Sign in with Apple, and Open-Meteo for weather and location lookups. Each only receives the data needed to perform its function. We do not share your data with anyone for their own marketing purposes.

Data Retention & Security

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Access to your personal data (collection, history, profile) is restricted to your account — and, where you’ve added friends, to those friends as described above. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Your Choices

Scensei doesn’t yet have an in-app account deletion button. To request access to, correction of, or full deletion of your account and data, email us at the address below and we’ll take care of it.

Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the Services evolve. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
